Oprah to make Twitter debut

Twitter is anxiously awaiting Oprah’s live tweets today as the rest of the world.. The megastar talk show host plans to send her first message, or “tweet,” on the hot micro-blogging service on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on Friday.

Oprah announced the creation of her Twitter account, @oprah, on her Facebook page on Thursday and attracted more than 34,000 followers in just a few hours.

She said the guest on her show on Friday would be the man she described as the “King of Twitter” — Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher.

Kutcher, was challenging CNN to be the first to gather one million followers on Twitter. He did it! The first dude to hit 1 million followers on Twitter.

Oprah is the latest celebrity to begin using Twitter, which allows users to pepper their followers with messages of a maximum 140 characters.

If you haven’t yet set up your free Twitter account, hop on over. If you’d like to follow a cool, crazy, whacky chic like myself, please do so.

I’ll see you in Tweet land :-)

President Obama campaign marketing is a hit!

Regardless to your political affiliation, President Barack Obama has authored the most successful Internet marketing campaigns ever in history. He and his campaign have gone from the longest of long-shots, to the presidency in less than two years. And his campaign’s embrace of technology has played a key role in spreading his message of hope and change to millions of people – people looking to be a part of that change.

His campaign consisted of a massacre on the social media arena such as Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Meetup and more.

Per the story run by the Washington Post, this is a brief summary of the Obama Campaign online operations stats:

         - 3 million online donors

         - 6.5 million online donations adding up to more than $500 million.

         – Of the 6.5 million donations, 6 million were in amounts of $100 or less.

         - Upwards of 13 million addresses were captured

         – More than 1 billion e-mails sent during the campaign

         – Approximately 1 million mobile phone numbers collected

         – 2 million profiles created on the My.BarackObama.com social network

         – 5 million supporters on other social networking and multimedia sharing sites.

This is what social media is all about. This campaign is the product of superior multi-channel audio, video and text content distribution using new and traditional media platforms.

    • Getting the message out.
    • Keeping the message fresh.
    • Sticking to the story.
    • Tracking and staying in touch with the interested visitor.
    • Developing a worthwhile engaging relationship with those who can support you and your concerns.

Now that you have seen power of traditional, social and internet marketing, what actions will you take to learn and use these available tools and concepts to successfully promote your business?

Please comment and share how you can utilize some of the same marketing strategies.

4 yr old youtube Beyonce video gets over 1mill views in 30 days!

This is a class act in web 2.0 social media marketing. Now I don’t see any revenue streams going there way for the production of the video however this is a classic case study where you can see the potential in online video. People want entertainment, education and VIDEO….stats say online users will spend more than 47% more time watching online video in 2009 than last year.

Yea I know but you’re camera shy…GET OVER IT! :-)

As you saw in that video, was nothing more than someone holding a camera and filming. Nothing fancy or too complicated. Think about in your business, what types of videos would be suitable for your market… (i.e. instructional, how to, educational, humorous etc.)

Bottom line is if you can figure out how to make your video entertaining and still drive your marketing message…you too can go viral.

If you need video training and a software to stream your video content with, check out these guys. They are the best on the market for usability and price.
